Air-conditioning Donation for the P&C Building Fund Payne Road State School students and teachers have enjoyed air-conditioned classrooms for nine years. This has only been possible thanks to the fundraising and donations of parents and supporters at Payne Road State School. Education Queensland does not fund air-conditioning in metropolitan Brisbane schools.
In 2006 our P&C invested $70,000 into the installation of air-conditioning. A portion of the funds came from a Queensland Treasury loan that the parents of the day approved, after a full school survey found overwhelming parental commitment to paying a donation of $40 per child, each year to fund the repayment of the loan, and more importantly the annual maintenance cost for the air-conditioning systems. This equates to approximately $1.00 per week per student.
During the year the P&C sends a letter to all parents requesting donations to the P&C Building Fund for the air-conditioning. Please help us achieve our goal to meet costs by donating. Your assistance and on-going support is very much appreciated. Donations of $2 and over are tax deductible.
P&C Funding Contribution & Membership Ongoing funding contributions, such as the air-conditioning donation and the successful operation of the P&C’s services, ensure your P&C is able to contribute to a range of projects and programs that would otherwise be out of reach of our school’s budget. This year the contribution from the P&C will total more than $150,000 and involves projects such as IT support, IT infrastructure, Chaplaincy Program, Hear and Say Testing, Library Resources, Environment Club Program, Technology and Engineering.
The Payne Road State School P&C is only in a position to make such a significant contribution thanks to the continued support of parents, families, teachers and staff at events and the successful operation of our services including OSHC, Tuckshop, Uniform Shop, Book Shop, Facilities Hire and Music Supporters Group. The efforts of all involved in these activities ultimately help provide a richer school community and learning environment for all of our students and their families.
